Ben is numb.
His childhood wasn’t bad; he grew up in a loving home with food on the table. Got a degree, made a career for himself.
But he doesn’t feel safe.
It is as though he has no sense of his own body. Like he isn’t actually there. He feels like an actor in a play pretending everything is okay. No one sees the real him.
Sometimes, he feels suffocated. Like the walls are closing in. Most mornings are a struggle to get out of bed.
His body is beginning to betray him. His sleep is fitful, his digestion is irritated.
Something has to change.
Jamie is overwhelmed.
They long for some semblance of peace.
Negative thoughts swirl around in their mind, telling them that they are not good enough. The constant pressure is crushing – to work harder at school, at their job, in their relationships.
Anger. Sadness. Fear. All just below the surface, locked away tight. It’s exhausting keeping it all inside. They are terrified of what would happen if people could see the truth.
Jamie wants to be open and honest. They are afraid it would scare people away.
They suspect the first step is learning to love themselves. They have no idea how.
Mary is lost.
She thought her marriage was going to last forever. Now she can’t figure out how their love turned into this. She knows the marriage is over.
Sobbing in her room alone is all that Mary can muster. Attending to her kids and being productive at work are monumentally challenging. She is spent. Anger, shame, and blame consume her.
It isn’t just the end of her marriage; it feels like a death – of a relationship, of her family, of herself.
The ground under her feet is so shaky.
“Who am I now?” she wonders.
She recognizes she has to rediscover her authentic self but doesn’t know if she can.
Change yourself and change your life.
Ben, Jamie, and Mary arrived at a point where their suffering was unbearable.
Ben found safety. Jamie found self-love. Mary found her authentic self.
And this is how:
Ben
Ben learned how to access his body safely and now uses the sensations to help him make decisions. He discovered the answers inside, not outside. Now, his career is back on track, and his body feels like home – safe, rested, and comfortable.
Jamie
Jamie learned that by slowing things down and giving emotions space they can feel feelings without being overwhelmed. Now Jamie is able to clearly express their thoughts and feelings. Jamie today embraces self-compassion. And with it, a new life.
Mary
Mary enjoys her newfound sense of family. A network of friends laughs and cries together. She is stronger and more confident than ever. She feels happy and alive, pursuing new passions and dreams. Best of all, she no longer blames herself and cheers herself on!
Ben, Jamie, and Mary were ready to face their demons. With total commitment and courage, they called out for an ally to walk beside them.
