To Do or Not to Do Therapy
You have experienced some significant challenges in your life.
Sometimes, we normalize them by saying, “They weren’t such a big deal. Everyone deals with challenges.” Yes! Everyone experiences challenges.
Judging and comparing your experience with other people’s issues is useless. What is important is how those challenges are impacting your life right now.
Why now?
If you are here now, there is a good chance there is a significant degree of discomfort in your life. You’ve tried numbing yourself by binge-watching shows or using alcohol or marijuana.
Some actions like talk therapy, yoga, meditation, exercise, and educating yourself about your issues were even somewhat helpful.
Still, you continue to feel a constriction in your chest, your heart keeps racing, and you feel the need to get up and get out. And then there is that never-ending hypervigilance – that causes you to remain aware of who’s around you and where the exits are.
Depression, physical symptoms, and that nagging sense that you are never good enough or smart enough persist. Fear has become an essential factor in determining your life choices. Maybe it’s time to try something different, like Somatic Experiencing.
Somatic Experiencing can change your life.
If you do the work, change will happen!
Somatic Experiencing can change both your life and who you are.
With a skilled practitioner, Somatic Experiencing helps your body process overwhelming events. You have an opportunity to experience fleeing, fighting, or whatever creative solution that would have helped you be safe.
Effects
The side effects of Somatic Experiencing include energy, ease, a quieter mind, and a sense of safety.
There’s no magic involved – SE can alter your biology. We peel back the onion slowly, and once accomplished, your body will come into a state of balance!
Gentle and Powerful
Somatic Experiencing is safe. During the process, we will take our time, and you will work at a pace that allows your body to process whatever emotions and sensations arise. Going slow is the best way to have lasting changes.
We start with the present.
You will feel supported by the sofa, with the air on your skin, while you use your senses to enter the space. Wherever we travel in the session, we always return to the present moment – noticing that at this moment, you are safe.
You will not be alone!
Hi! I’m Brigitta
My journey started in childhood.
I faced many challenges – a suicidal parent, sexual abuse, severe health issues, and divorce. Sometimes, it felt like a walk through hell. But those challenges were my calls to action.
Listening to that call to action led me to meditation and living in a Buddhist Monastery. The call continued, and I found that meditation has a way of bringing to the surface buried memories that can be overwhelming.
Eventually, after doing years of therapy and using other healing modalities, a practitioner suggested Somatic Experiencing (SE), and I learned firsthand about the power of SE. My nervous system became more regulated, health issues disappeared, and I felt an effortless connection with myself and others.
SE made a difference in my life, and I know it can do the same for you.
In my free time…
…you can find me on the trails, hiking and backpacking with my dog Juneau. I love to dance, draw, learn, and spend time with my kids (young adults now) and my friends.
I love, love adventure and travel, and learning. Ok, the truth is that I have many interests.
